Purple Overdose were founded in Athens, Greece in 1987 by Costas Constantinou (vocals, guitar, and only constant member).

The band seeked to recreate the psychedelic atmosphere of the mid 1960's while blending hard rock, jazz, oriental and even some folklore into their music. The lyrics were written in English by Constantinou, and can be described as poetic and somewhat sentimental, while also drawing inspiration from the flower power movement of the 1960's. They embraced ideals of nature, and freedom of spirit. They are similar in style to Smell Of Incense.

The first album Exit 4 was released in 1988, to critical acclaim. Members of fellow Athenian Psych band No Man's Land (6) also played on the album. The arrangements on it are slightly simpler than on later albums, incorporating elements of hard rock. The second LP, Indigo (1990) marks a move towards more complex compositions. Their next eponumous album, introduced the flute (Vasilis Kapanikis) and elements of jazz, and a further move towards more progressive compositions. Their fourth album, Solemn Visions (1996) continued in the same vein, and experimented in places with a curious mixture of blues and oriental influences. The fifth studio album, Reborn, released in 1999, is arguably the pinnacle of their career. It features longer and spacier compositions, and again a variety of styles, showing the band at their most mature.

From live releases, of particular note is The Salmon's Trip whose title is taken from the track "Reborn", a track which describes the life cycle of the salmon fish. There is also a compilation album, Painting The Air which consists of tracks from the earlier years, as well as three previously unreleased compositions.

The band gave its farewell performance in Sept 9, 2005. Constantinou died in May 2020, at the age of 60.

PAGAN - Γιάννη (Gianni) Live at Kyttaro Club Athens

 Το «Γιάννη μου το μαντήλι σου» είναι ίσως το πιο εμβληματικό δημοτικό τραγούδι της ξενιτιάς. Με σύμβολο ένα μαντήλι που σκουπίζει τον ιδρώτα, το αίμα και τη βρωμιά από τη σκληρή εργασία που εκανε για να επιβιώσει στην αλλοδαπή, ο «Γιάννης» λέει πως το έπλυνε σε πέντε ποτάμια αλλά ήταν τόσο λερωμένο που δεν καθάρισε, μόνο τα έβαψε κι αυτά. Στα «έρημα τα ξένα» ο κάθε Γιάννης είναι συνήθως ένας φοβισμένος παρίας, κρυμμένος από την κοινωνική ζωή στα γκέτο και το φτωχικό του δωμάτιο. Σε αυτή την εκτέλεση οι PAGAN ενσωμάτωσαν και μια πρωτότυπη μελωδία σε συρτό ρυθμό, όπου η γκάιντα κλαίει για τα χαμένα χρόνια της ξενιτιάς που πίσω δεν γυρίζουν, αλλά μπορούν όμως να θυμίζουν στις επόμενες γενιές πως «όπου γη και πατρίς» χωρίς ανθρωπισμό, αλληλεγγύη και κατανόηση δεν υπάρχει.

Ο Ηλίας Ζάικος, με blues και άλλες μουσικές ιστορίες

 O Ηλίας Ζάικος γεννήθηκε το 1960 στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Κόλλησε με το rock and roll στα μέσα της εφηβείας του, είναι αυτοδίδακτος κιθαρίστας και έχει καταλήξει να είναι ένας διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένος μουσικός αναπτύσσοντας ένα ιδιαίτερο στυλ, ενώ συνθέτει και τραγουδάει. Το 1983, οι Blues Gang, η μπάντα που ξεκίνησε (και συνεχίζει) μαζί με τον μπασίστα Σωτήρη Ζήση στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του ’80, κυκλοφόρησαν τον πρώτο ελληνικό blues δίσκο και στη συνέχεια άλλους δυο, πριν μετονομαστούν σε Blues Wire και συνεχίσουν ακάθεκτοι ηχογραφώντας και δίνοντας συναυλίες στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό μέχρι σήμερα που τα δυο αυθεντικά μέλη πλαισιώνονται από την ντράμερ Νίκη Γουρζουλίδου.

The Blues Project - Lazarus 1971

 The Blues Project was an American band formed in New York City's Greenwich Village neighborhood in 1965. The group's original iteration broke up in 1967.^[1] Their songs drew from a wide array of musical styles. They are most remembered as one of the most artful practitioners of pop music, influenced as it was by folk, blues, rhythm & blues, jazz and the pop music of the day.

On February 14, 2023, the group, still led by Steve Katz and Roy Blumenfeld, released a new collection of tunes, called "Evolution".
