Sivert Høyem - Live At Acropolis - Herod Atticus Odeon, Athens

Sivert Høyem (born 22 January 1976) is a Norwegian musician, best known as the vocalist of the rock band Madrugada. After the band broke up following the death of Robert Burås in 2007, he has enjoyed success as a solo artist and is also a member of The Volunteers with whom he released the album Exiles in 2006.

One of Norway’s most enduring artists, Sivert Høyem is best known as the former singer of rock band Madrugada, as well as a popular solo artist and storyteller whose distinctive voice recalls a combination of the timbres of Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, and Neil Diamond. For more than 15 years, Sivert Høyem dreamed of playing a concert in the 2000-year old Herod Atticus Odeon amphitheater at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. On Sept 29th and Oct 2nd 2016, the dream came true, as Høyem – as one of very few artists approved by Greek authorities to perform at the theatre – played two sold-out shows in front of 10.000 Greek fans. On June 9th 2017 the Acropolis recording is released as a double live album and film, available on limited edition vinyl, standard vinyl incl. DVD, 2CD digipack incl. DVD, download and streaming. The 110-minute concert recording sees Sivert Høyem perform 16 classic songs, spanning his 20-year career, both as a solo artist and as the lead singer of Madrugada. Ever since the release of Madragada’s debut album “Industrial Silence”, Sivert Høyem has regularly performed in Greece building a faithful fan base among music lovers, making such a memorable event possible.

Madrugada-The Kids are on High Street

Madrugada is a Norwegian alternative rock band formed in the town of Stokmarknes in 1993. The key band members included Sivert Høyem (vocals), Robert Burås (guitar) and Frode Jacobsen (bass). After Burås' death on 12 July 2007, Høyem and Jacobsen decided to finish recording what was to be their final album with the original lineup.[1] On 21 January 2008, the band released Madrugada and announced that they would split after one last tour. They performed their final concert of this tour on 15 November 2008.[2]

In June 2018 it was announced that Høyem, Jacobsen and Lauvland Pettersen had reformed the band for a series of shows in 2019.

According to Anders Kaasen of Allmusic, the band was noted for "its bareboned blues-inspired alt-rock" at the end of the 1990s.[3]

lyrics
:It'll wake up some change Stones in the pipeline Like some new mountain range Leave the lowlands behind They take your photograph You come into existence You realize it's your path In this very instant Some heroes are we To pass outside these gates We know well to adjust Adjust to what it takes You add another year to this And it all has gone to waste All the plans have been made To pursue our own separate faiths They take your photograph You come into existence You realise its your path In this very instant ... Ohhhh The kids are on high street The kids will not sleep tonight The kids got into a knife fight We trained them well They're gonna be alright I've been trying to interfere I can't even wait To get away from you Cause it's only in hindsight That we will know what was right to do I always thought we had it made Ambitious were the plans we laid They take your photograph You come into existence Yyou realise its your path In this very instant

If I was to expire on a day like this Then pay no heed at all Returned again, my secret fire From confusion trails To death's own roll call And you know that I don't know what to do But I could wait a thousand years or more Settled in to the point where I... I don't know what the hell I'm waiting for It's my time to be waiting All locked down, chained in the hole But when my waiting is done I'm gonna give it a whirl [x2] Again, try to rewire The connections of your tired machine Well, you know you've been a liar A good for nothing two-faced go-between It's my time to be waiting All locked down, chained in the hole But when my waiting is done I'm gonna give it a whirl [x6]

Sivert Høyem - Prisoner Of The Road Live When I go I go alone There ain't no one ever looking out for me Just the sun my own lean shadow And the wind out among the trees Home it's far beyond long lost horizons Home I'll never see For I'll be a prisoner of the road And I hold no key that will ever set me free Most humbly on my bending knee I'm begging you to help me please For I'm a prisoner of the road And I hold no key I hold no key that will ever set me free
