 Nazareth are a Scottish hard rock band formed in Dunfermline in 1968 that had many hit singles and albums in Canada, the United Kingdom, and a number of other European countries beginning in the early 1970s. The breadth of their popularity expanded internationally, including in the United States, with their 1975 album Hair of the Dog, which featured their hits "Hair of the Dog" and a cover of the ballad "Love Hurts".^[3][4][5] They have continued to record and tour internationally for more than 50 years.

Roy Buchanan - Live At Rockpalast 1985

 Leroy "Roy" Buchanan (September 23, 1939 – August 14, 1988) was an American guitarist and blues musician. A pioneer of the Telecaster sound,^[1] Buchanan worked as a sideman and as a solo artist, with two gold albums early in his career^[2] and two later solo albums that made it to the Billboard chart. He never achieved stardom, but is considered a highly influential guitar player.^[3] Guitar Player praised him as having one of the "50 Greatest Tones of All Time."^[1] He appeared on the PBS music program Austin City Limits in 1977 (season 2).

According to his agent and others, Buchanan was doing well, having gained control of his drinking habit and playing again, when he was arrested for public intoxication after a domestic dispute.^[2][6] He was found hanged from his own shirt in a jail cell on August 14, 1988, in the Fairfax County, Virginia, Jail. According to Thomas Hartman, who was in a cell near Buchanan's, the deputy sheriff opened the door early in the morning and found Buchanan with the shirt around his neck.^[9][17] His cause of death was officially recorded as suicide, a finding disputed by Buchanan's friends and family. One of his friends, Marc Fisher, reported seeing Roy's body with bruises on the head.

ROY BUCHANAN was a true master of the Fender Telecaster guitar; and his playing technique significantly influenced musicians such as Gary Moore and Jeff Beck. He moved to Los Angeles when he was a teenager and played in the band Heartbeats with Spencer Dryden. After this, he went on tour with Dale Hawkins and played with Robbie Robertson (The Band) who described BUCHANAN as one of his main influences. In the sixties ROY BUCHANAN got married, moved to Washington D. C. and worked as a studio musician for more than one hundred album productions. His first solo album was only released in 1971 and which led to the result that he and his inimitable playing of the Fender Telecaster was a well-kept secret among the likes of John Lennon, Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones. Despite this reputation and the huge success he experienced in the seventies, BUCHANAN felt restricted in the creativity granted to him by the record companies. In 1981 he decided to go on a four year break. This Rockpalast concert was recorded at the Markthalle in Hamburg on February 24, 1985 – just three years before his tragic suicide. It is a performance that shows ROY BUCHANAN’s genius on the guitar in an extremely unique way – especially with his brilliant covers by artists including Jimi Hendrix or Don Gibson.  Clayton grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and began to play harmonica and guitar at the age of seven.^[3] At nine years old, he received his first steel guitar.^[5]

After serving in the Air Force he moved to Nashville in 1968 and began his career as a songwriter. In 1972 he wrote "Ladies Love Outlaws" for Waylon Jennings.^[3] In 1973 he released his first album simply titled Lee Clayton, with which, as Clayton would later say, he was very dissatisfied. In the following years he continued his songwriting. He wrote songs like "Lone Wolf" for Jerry Jeff Walker and "If You Could Touch Her at All" for Willie Nelson. In 1978 his second album, Border Affair, was released. It was critically acclaimed but became a flop at the charts.^[5]

Albert Collins & The Icebreakers - Live At Rockpalast 1980

 

Albert Gene Collins (October 1, 1932 – November 24, 1993)^[1] was an American electric blues guitarist and singer with a distinctive guitar style. He was noted for his powerful playing and his use of altered tunings and a capo. His long association with the Fender Telecaster led to the title "The Master of the Telecaster".^[2]

Early life

Collins was born in Leona, Texas, on October 1, 1932.^[3] He was introduced to the guitar at an early age by his cousin Lightnin' Hopkins, also a Leona resident, who played at family gatherings. The Collins family relocated to Marquez, Texas, in 1938 and to Houston in 1941,^[4] where he attended Jack Yates High School.^[5] Collins took piano lessons when he was young, but when his piano tutor was unavailable his cousin Willow Young would lend Albert his guitar and taught him the altered tuning that he used throughout his career.^[4] Collins tuned his guitar to an open F-minor chord (FCFA♭CF), with a capo at the 5th, 6th or 7th fret.^[6] At the age of sixteen, he decided to concentrate on learning the guitar after hearing "Boogie Chillen' " by John Lee Hooker.

 “Dear friends, today live at Rockpalast: The Icebreakers!“ With these words Albrecht Metzger announced the blues band of four, which the audience of the Westfalenhalle 2 in Dortmund, Germany didn’t know much about, yet on November 26th 1980. That’s why the welcome has been a little lukewarm at first, but about ten minutes later plaudits were rising: After the opener ”Sweet Home Chicago“ and ”She´s So Fine“, the “Master Of The Telecaster” entered the stage. Albert Collins was immediately attracting his fans’ attention: ”Listen Here“. Seconds after the extraordinary instrumental intro the ice melted away: An impish grin in his sweaty face the Texan in his red outfit draw his unique blue notes from his Fender guitar. Also “Cold Cold Feeling“ was an expression of Collin’s talent. With his long thin fingers and without the commonly used pick, the Iceman treats the six strings of his instrument in an inimitable manner. Also unusual was, that Albert Collins didn`t wear his guitar belt along his back, but solely around his right shoulder. This gave him more freedom to move, which he made use of, extensively. In addition to that, the very long cable gave him the possibility to go for a stroll into the audience – Collins wasn’t yet using a wireless system. At this Rockpalast concert he also left the stage to meet his fans in the crowd. Long improvisations and solos – also by his great band around saxophonist and singer A.C. Reed – are emphasizing his reputation as an experienced soloist and brilliant entertainer, evenhandedly. Also amongst his musical fellows, Albert Collins enjoyed a very high reputation. Even before the Rockpalast recording, the 1st October 1932 in Leona, Texas born guitarist was working with a great number of bands and soloists in jam sessions. The following years of the 90’s Collins was surfing a wave of respect and sympathy: Gary Moore, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King and John Mayall hired him for guest appearances on their albums ”Still Got The Blues“, “Mr. Lucky“, “Blues Summit“ and “Wake Up Call“. After this his own albums like “Cold Snap“ and “Sudden Frost“ were selling better and better and Albert played twice at the legendary Montreux Festival in Switzerland in 1979 and 1992. On the high peak of his career the “Icepicker” died of liver cancer on 24th November 1993 in Las Vegas. This DVD is a memorial for this likeable master of the blues. Furthermore this concert contains with “If You Love Me Like You Say“ and “Frosty“ two milestones of a fantastic career.

 Frumpy was a German progressive rock/krautrock band based in Hamburg, which was active between 1970–1972 and 1990–1995. Formed after the break-up of folk rockers City Preachers [de], Frumpy released four albums in 1970–1973 and achieved considerable commercial success. The German press hailed them as the best German rock band of their time and their vocalist Inga Rumpf [de] as the "greatest individual vocal talent" of the contemporary German rock scene. They disbanded in 1972 although the various members all worked together at various times over the following two decades and they reunited again in 1989, producing three more albums over five years after which they disbanded once more.

Michael Kevin Taylor (born 17 January 1949) is an English guitarist, best known as a former member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (1967–1969) and the Rolling Stones (1969–1974). As a member of the Stones, he appeared on: Let It Bleed (1969), Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! The Rolling Stones in Concert (1970), Sticky Fingers (1971), Exile on Main St. (1972), Goats Head Soup (1973) and It's Only Rock 'n Roll (1974).

Since leaving the Rolling Stones in December 1974, Taylor has worked with numerous other artists and released several solo albums. From November 2012 onwards he participated in the Stones' 50th-Anniversary shows in London and Newark, and in the band's 50 & Counting tour, which included North America, Glastonbury Festival and Hyde Park in 2013. He was ranked 37th in Rolling Stone magazine's 2011 list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.^[1] Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash states that Taylor had the biggest influence on him.^[2]

Tito & Tarantula is an American chicano rock/blues rock band formed in Hollywood, California, in 1992 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tito Larriva.

The band is best known for its songs, "After Dark", "Back to the House That Love Built", "Strange Face of Love", and "Angry Cockroaches", as well as for its role in Robert Rodriguez's film From Dusk till Dawn as the band performing at the "Titty Twister" nightclub. "After Dark" was the track played during Salma Hayek's iconic exotic dance scene in that film, and later became the theme for From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series.

 Ian Hunter Patterson (born 3 June 1939)^{[1][2][3][nb 1]} is an English singer-songwriter and musician who is best known as the lead singer of the English rock band Mott the Hoople, from its inception in 1969 to its dissolution in 1974, and at the time of its 2009, 2013, and 2019 reunions. Hunter was a musician and songwriter before joining Mott the Hoople, and continued in this vein after he left the band. He embarked on a solo career despite ill health and disillusionment with commercial success, and often worked in collaboration with Mick Ronson, David Bowie's sideman and arranger from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars period. 

 

Michael Ronson (26 May 1946 – 29 April 1993)^[1] was an English musician, songwriter, arranger, and producer. He achieved critical and commercial success working with David Bowie as the guitarist of the Spiders from Mars. He was a session musician who recorded five studio albums with Bowie followed by four with Ian Hunter, and also worked as a sideman in touring bands with Van Morrison and Bob Dylan.^[2]

Ronson and Bowie also produced Lou Reed's Transformer with Ronson playing lead guitar and piano and writing string arrangements, which brought mainstream recognition.^[3] The album is considered an influential landmark of the glam rock genre, anchored by Reed's most successful single, "Walk on the Wild Side."^[4] The next decade, John Cougar Mellencamp credited Ronson for helping to arrange his most successful hit single, "Jack & Diane."

Ronson recorded five solo studio albums, the most popular being Slaughter on 10th Avenue, which reached No. 9 on the UK Albums Chart.^[5] He played with various bands after his time with Bowie. A classically trained musician, Ronson was known for his melodic approach to guitar playing. He was named the 64th-greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone in 2003^[6] and 41st in 2012 by the same magazine.^[7]

Morcheeba is an English electronic band formed in the mid-1990s with founding members vocalist Skye Edwards and the brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey. They mix influences from trip hop, rock, folk rock and downtempo, and have produced ten regular studio albums since 1995, two of which reached the UK top ten.^[1] Edwards left the band in 2003, after which the brothers used a number of singers before she rejoined in 2009. They recruit additional members for their live performances and have toured internationally. In 2014 Paul Godfrey resigned from the band. Edwards and Ross Godfrey later formed Skye & Ross and released a self-titled album in September 2016.^[2] Their latest studio album as Morcheeba, Blackest Blue, was released in May 2021 and was preceded by singles "Sounds of Blue", "Oh Oh Yeah" and "The Moon".^[3][4][5][6] It features collaborations with Brad Barr from The Barr Brothers, and Duke Garwood, whom Edwards described as "a diamond geezer".^[7]

 Siena Root is a Swedish rock band with its roots in late '60s and '70s rock music. The group was founded in Stockholm in the late '90s. Their sound is based on heavy organ, howling guitars, bass riffing and big drums. It is also often enriched with bluesy soulful vocals, various guest musicians and psychedelic vibes.^[2][3][4]

The band believes their music has the warm color of Siena, an earthy colour. Because their sound has roots that go deep, they named the band Siena Root.^[5]

Siena Root has been touring frequently in Europe since the early 00's, and producing a wide range of genre-blending songs. Often have the concerts featured prominent guest musicians.
