PAGAN - Γιάννη (Gianni) Live at Kyttaro Club Athens

 Το «Γιάννη μου το μαντήλι σου» είναι ίσως το πιο εμβληματικό δημοτικό τραγούδι της ξενιτιάς. Με σύμβολο ένα μαντήλι που σκουπίζει τον ιδρώτα, το αίμα και τη βρωμιά από τη σκληρή εργασία που εκανε για να επιβιώσει στην αλλοδαπή, ο «Γιάννης» λέει πως το έπλυνε σε πέντε ποτάμια αλλά ήταν τόσο λερωμένο που δεν καθάρισε, μόνο τα έβαψε κι αυτά. Στα «έρημα τα ξένα» ο κάθε Γιάννης είναι συνήθως ένας φοβισμένος παρίας, κρυμμένος από την κοινωνική ζωή στα γκέτο και το φτωχικό του δωμάτιο. Σε αυτή την εκτέλεση οι PAGAN ενσωμάτωσαν και μια πρωτότυπη μελωδία σε συρτό ρυθμό, όπου η γκάιντα κλαίει για τα χαμένα χρόνια της ξενιτιάς που πίσω δεν γυρίζουν, αλλά μπορούν όμως να θυμίζουν στις επόμενες γενιές πως «όπου γη και πατρίς» χωρίς ανθρωπισμό, αλληλεγγύη και κατανόηση δεν υπάρχει.

Istanbul Blues Kumpanyasi (two albums)

 Istanbul Blues Company (İstanbul Blues Kumpanyası in Turkish; referred as IBC hereafter) was a blues band from Turkey.^[1][2] They are often referred as The Original Turkish Blues Band and bring the blues sound to their national melodies, harvesting both to put together a unique and plausible sound.^{[citation needed]} Despite being short-lived, the band was influential on both the Turkish blues scene and other bands.^[1]

 

History

IBC was founded in October 1993 by Sarp Keskiner and Salih Nazım Peker as Constantinople Blues Company.^[1][3][4] They were inspired by blues collectives such as John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated.^[5] Their first album, the thirteen-track Kökler, was released on tape in a batch of 3,000 in October 1996 and on CD in 1997.^[4][5] Keskiner directed, produced, composed, authored, and arranged this album^{[citation needed]} before leaving in 1997.^[3] IBC released their second and final album, Sair Zamanlar, in 1999^[5] before embarking on their last tour.^{[citation needed]} The band dissolved in 2000.^[4]

Ερμηνεύτρια, βοκαλίστρια, ερευνήτρια, καθηγήτρια φωνητικής.

Θεωρεί την ανθρώπινη φωνή ως το εκφραστικότερο και πλουσιότερο σε αποχρώσεις μουσικό όργανο, τη χρησιμοποιεί για να αυτοσχεδιάσει, να πειραματιστεί, να εκφραστεί και να επικοινωνήσει.

Είναι δημιουργός, παραγωγός και lead vocalist μιας σειράς διαφορετικών μουσικών projects. Η αφετηρία της και η βάση της είναι η τζαζ μουσική, η συλλογή και μελέτη παραδοσιακών ήχων, ρυθμών, μουσικών ιδιωμάτων και φωνημάτων.

Παράλληλα με τις μουσικές της σπουδές, έχει ολοκληρώσει έναν πολυετή κύκλο επιστημονικής έρευνας – είναι αριστούχος διδάκτορας της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών στη Μοριακή Βιολογία. Ανάμεσα στα δύο πεδία επέλεξε την τέχνη και έχει αφιερωθεί αποκλειστικά στη μουσική και το τραγούδι, ερευνώντας κυρίως εννοιολογικά και βιωματικά τις δυνατότητες της ανθρώπινης φωνής.

Η προσέγγισή της στην τέχνη είναι σε διαλεκτική και συνθετική σχέση με τις παραστατικές/οπτικοακουστικές τέχνες και την εικαστική δημιουργία. Η ανάγκη της, η χαρά της και ο στόχος της είναι η ελεύθερη δημιουργική έκφραση και η διάδραση των ανθρώπων χωρίς μουσικά σύνορα.

Chrisavgi (Kristi) Stassinopoulou (Athens, 20 January 1956) is a Greek singer, lyricist, and fiction writer. A native Athenian, she is an internationally known artist of the world music circuit. She is accompanied by composer, arranger, co-producer and multi-instrumentalist Stathis Kalyviotis. Their music combines traditional Greek rhythms and sounds, Byzantine vocal lines, rebetiko music, psychedelic rock,^[1] ambience and electronica.^{[citation needed]}

 

Studies and early years

Kristi Stassinopoulou has studied acting and drama at the school of Theatro Tehnis, Karolos Koun and at the theatre-school of Petros Katselis.^{[citation needed]}

In 1978, while still a student, she participated in an audition for the Greek production of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber and was selected from 300 professionals and amateur singers for the role of Mary Magdalene; that was her debut as a professional singer.^[5]

In 1983 Stassinopoulou represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest in Munich, where she interpreted the song of Antonis Plessas, Mou Les.

At that year she was picked for the role of Juan Perón's young mistress in Tim Rice's and Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera Evita, produced in Athens by Aliki Vougiouklaki, who was playing the main role of Evita Peron. [1]

Orchestra Baobab "Nijaay" Jazz_in_Marciac 2017

 Orchestra Baobab is a Senegalese band established in 1970 as the house band of the Baobab Club in Dakar. Many of the band's original members had previously played with Star Band de Dakar in the 1960s. Directed by timbalero and vocalist Balla Sidibé, the group featured saxophonists Issa Cissoko and Thierno Koité, two singers, two guitarists and a rhythm section with drums, congas and bass guitar. Since their formation, the band has predominantly played a mix of son cubano, Wolof music, and to a lesser extent Mande musical traditions. Following the deaths of Cissoko in 2019 and Sidibé in 2020, Thierno Koité has become the leader of the band.

Orchestra Baobab became one of the dominant African bands of the 1970s, recording 20 albums before their breakup in 1987, which occurred as a result of the increase in popularity of mbalax, a more contemporary genre of Senegalese music. In the years following their disbandment, World Circuit released several of their albums on CD, making the band very popular among world music fans in the UK and the rest of Europe. This prompted their reformation in 2001, which was followed by the recording of a new album, Specialist in All Styles. The group continues to tour extensively and has released two more studio albums, Made in Dakar (2007) and Tribute to Ndiouga Dieng (2017).

 Ali Ibrahim "Ali Farka" Touré (31 October 1939 – 6 March 2006)^[1][2] was a Malian singer and multi-instrumentalist, and one of the African continent's most internationally renowned musicians.^[3] His music blends traditional Malian music and its derivative, North American blues^[4] and is considered a pioneer of African desert blues.^[5] Touré was ranked number 76 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time"^[6] and number 37 on Spin magazine's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".^[7]

Toumani Diabaté (born 10 August 1965) is a Malian kora player.^[1] In addition to performing the traditional music of Mali, he has also been involved in cross-cultural collaborations with flamenco, blues, jazz, and other international styles.^[1]
