“Akko, Salonika, Istanbul" - the Jerusalem Orchestra East & West hosting Yasmin Levy and Linet

Levy is of Sephardic Jewish descent.[1] Her parents were immigrants from Turkey.[1] Her late father, Yitzhak Isaac Levy (1919–1977),[2] was a composer and hazzan (cantor), as well as a pioneer researcher into the history of the Ladino music and culture of Spanish Jewry and its diaspora, being the editor of the Ladino language magazine Aki Yerushalayim.[3]

Linet was born and raised in Israel.[2] Her mother, Leyla Özgecan (also known as Leya Bonana Hebrewלילה‎), was a Turkish classical music singer from Bursa.[3] Her father, Shmuel Menashe, was a resident of Istanbul. She has two sisters.[4]

Despite reports that she had served in the Israeli Army for 3 months,[5][6] Linet stated in 2021 that she had avoided serving in the military, after which she became a resident in Turkey.[7]
